Community Policies & Code of Conduct

At Blazing Blue Fawn Productions, we aim to bring you an experience that reflects the diversity of our community, and to ensure that our events are a positive experience for everyone involved. This document serves as a guide to help encourage that goal.

Land Acknowledgment

Blazing Blue Fawn Productions recognizes and respects that our events take place on the traditional territory of the Lekwungen-speaking people of the Esquimalt and Songhees First Nations. We recognize that our work occurs on their lands, and that while acknowledging territory is an important component of following local protocol and reconciliation, we must follow through with meaningful action and awareness in our everyday lives.

Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion

BBFP strives to curate a space that embraces performers from all walks of life. This includes, but is not limited to: Indigenous performers, performers of colour, large-bodied performers, performers over the age of 40, neurodivergent performers, performers with disabilities, performers in the the 2SLGBTQQIAAP+ community, and low-income performers.

Our application process allows performers from underrepresented groups to self-identify at their discretion, aiding our producers in creating a diverse lineup. The final curation takes applicants’ identities and applications into consideration, striving towards representation that mirrors the varied identities within the burlesque community.

Accessibility

Blazing Blue Fawn Productions is dedicated to providing accessible venues for performers and audience members whenever possible. We offer support for individuals with disabilities and neurodivergence, including the provision of masks, sanitizer, earplugs, and content warnings for sensitive acts and acts with flashing lights.

Creating Safer Spaces

We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment free from harassment. Our guidelines promote respect, enthusiastic consent, and responsible behaviour, and we will not tolerate:

  • Racism, sexism, classism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, fatphobia, ageism, xenophobia, colourism, anti-semitism, or other forms of discrimination
  • Physical, verbal, emotional, or mental abuse, bullying, or otherwise causing others to feel unsafe
  • Sexual harassment, inappropriate or unwelcome comments, disruptive or disrespectful behavior
  • Appropriation of culture, ability, body types, or identities

To help support the safety and comfort of those around you, we request you adhere to the following guidelines during our events:

  • Respect people’s physical and emotional boundaries, and always obtain enthusiastic consent
  • Be responsible and accountable for your actions, and be aware that they may have an effect on others regardless of your original intent

By upholding these principles, we strive to create an environment where everyone feels respected, valued, and safe during their Blazing Blue Fawn Productions experience. Attendees, performers, or staff violating our safer space policy may be asked to address their behaviour or leave the event.

Covid-19 Safety Measures

Performers, staff, and volunteers are encouraged to take a Covid test within 24 hours prior to the show, and unwell individuals are asked not to attend events. Masks are encouraged backstage and public areas, and any public health guidelines in place at the time of events will be followed to the best of our ability.

Community Engagement

These policies are subject to regular review, and we welcome input from our community members (please email us at contact@blazingbluefawn.com with any feedback).

By attending, performing, or otherwise being involved in our events, you agree to abide by these guidelines. We appreciate your cooperation and support in making Blazing Blue Fawn Productions events a vibrant and welcoming experience for all.
